Thank you for you visit!

Dear and valued window shoppers and customers!

The chamber pipe is a miniature version of the highland bagpipe. This produces a practice chanter type sound but with the addition of three drones - two tenors and a bass. They are generally in the key of B flat and are suitable for playing indoors, as the name would suggest. These pipes are made from African blackwood, have a small Bannatyne synthetic bag and come with choice of covers and cords. The chanter on this set is African blackwood and the pipes come ready to play.

Scottish smallpipes can be made to play with bellows, or can be made mouthblown. They can also be made in different keys, ranging from A to D. Smallpipe drones consist of one bass, one baritone and one tenor and these three drones will all fit into one universal stock. All reeds for these sets are plastic and are made by Kilberry for their own small pipes. A small synthetic bag comes as standard with these pipes with a choice of plain velvet covers. There are no cords required.

Smallpipes are traditionally made from African blackwood. However, we now also manufacture a set made from polypenco plastic. These produce an excellent sound and are made mouthblown only.

Practice pipes slot into the area between learning to play on the practice chanter and playing a full set of Highland bagpipes.
They are made in Edinburgh with two brass drones which produce an excellent steady sound. The chanter of the pipes is made from top quality plastic and, overall, these pipes have an amazing sound - not dissimilar to small pipes.

Electronic Pipes are ultimate high-tech digital instruments containing the brand new Ross Technologies programmable electronics, equally suitable for use as a convenient practice chanter or with an amplifier for live performance.

Chamber Pipes:

Chamber pipeThis set is our most basic in terms of finish, with wooden mounts and plain stainless steel ferrules. The wood is fully combed and imitation ivory caps adorn the drone tops. This set is available in blackwood. The mounts are made of wood, the ferrules of stainless steel.

Although more basic in appearance, the 'a' set will play and sound just as well as any of the more expensive sets. The higher up the price range you go, the more decoration you get for your money but the sound quality is always the same.

Smallpipes made of blackwoodThe Small pipes differ from Highland and Chamber mainly in that they are played in a different key - the normal choices being A, B flat, or D. These pipes produce a very mellow, haunting sound and, again, are for indoor use.
The three drones - a bass, a tenor, and a baritone - are small in size and fit into one universal stock (listen to it usind the links above!)
Often played with a variety of other instruments, these have increased greatly in popularity in recent years. Air is pumped to a small synthetic bag by means of an arm operated bellow.
Each set comes fully reeded, with a choice of colour for the bag cover. When ordering, please state which key and blowing technique you prefer.

Material: Blackwood

Finish: Plain style, stainless steel ferrules, bellow operated

In key of A or B flat.

Practice Pipes:

Practice PipesThese practice pipes are ideal for indoor use and can be of great advantage to the student who is making progress on the practice chanter but wants an intermediate step before proceeding to the full pipes. They come complete with bag and velvet bag cover. They are also really good fun for experienced players as they take very little air, are easy to tune, and produce a remarkably good tone. The fingering technique is the same as the Highland, Scottish Small and Chamber pipes, and they are therefore ideal for practising tunes.

The practice pipes come in at a fraction of the cost of a full set of bagpipes and it should be remembered that they are not the equivalent of Highland or small pipes. In saying this, we can retail these at a remarkably low cost. You will receive them within 14-21 days of ordering.

Finish: Brass drones, velvet bag cover

Electronic Pipes:

Electronic PipesElectronic Pipes are based on crystal-controlled cutting edge microcontroller technology and are completely digital - which totally eliminates frequency drift and drone tuning problems.

The notes are played in a very realistic manner by covering electronic touch sensors, positioned to exactly match the finger spacing of a regular pipe chanter. The unit may be programmed to play in the regular bagpipe key of 'b-flat' or one of seven different keys to match the pitch of other instruments. This is done by simply playing the desired key on the finger holes i.e. all holes covered for the key of 'g'.

These are great fun and with 8 keys available, they can be made to fit in with almost any instrument. There is a volume control which can also be very handy - both for turning up... and down, depending on who's playing!
